Prompt Diagnosis of Genital Warts

What are genital warts? Typically, genital warts disappear, even if left untreated by the affected individual. Occasionally, they do expand in size, and diversify their location on the subject’s private regions. Most warts are not deleterious to the health of the infected subject, according to some health professionals However, they are not aesthetically appealing either, and they can manifest symptoms such as itching. Of course, it is critical to treat these contagious warts, in an effort to reduce their spread.

According to a study conducted in the United States, male circumcision significantly reduces the infection and onset of diseases such as HPV and genital herpes. However, this reduced risk does not at all apply to syphilis. Yet, the correlation between circumcision and STD/STI is not a strong one. While the US is characterized by a higher rate of male circumcision, it also contains the highest rate of STDs/STIs among males.

In correlation to this subject matter, pap tests are significant in screening and treating a female for genital warts. This exam essentially screens for cervical cancer in women, which is sometimes triggered by HPV. However, Pap tests should not merely be reserved for genital wart screenings, as they should occupy an annual routine to ensure normalcy within a woman’s vagina and cervix. It is recommended that women with genital warts obtain pap smears every three to six months. If detected promptly, there is a far better chance of curing a woman of cervical cancer. Furthermore, the Pap test can determine the future cancerous states of cervical cells, if applicable.

It is usually recommended that women have a Pap test conducted by the age of 21, or merely within three years of engaging in sexual activity. Genital warts are not merely a concern of aesthetic appeal or shame, as they can indicate an increased risk for physical complications.
